Forensic Research Internship Opportunities
About the Project
Selected students will gain valuable research experience in reviewing case materials from a range of actual cases and participate in different protocols analyzing data from the Depravity Standard studies. The projects refine students’ aptitude for applied research, working with standardized definitions, engaging the law and justice community. The project offers the opportunity to participate in various aspects of this landmark justice research and its contributions to justice.
Our Internship Opportunities
- Students are trained and supervised by The Depravity Standard research staff in understanding the research and applied methodologies of the project.
- Interns review data gathered from the different protocols in place, collaborate on studies to address new questions from the available data, learn the fine points of the instrument and its scoring system and data mine from cases in the news, enlist and promote crowdsource participation in survey research, use social media to enhance data collection, and participate in writing projects and academic publication.
- The experience offers interns a range of research and evidence-review experiences to refine skills. These are skills applicable and beneficial to a range of forensic, law, and behavioral science careers.
- Students work alongside and interact with professional staff of The Forensic Panel, with more advanced case work internships available for particularly talented students at the completion of the Depravity Standard internship.
Requirements
The opportunity requires a meticulously detail-oriented, honest, responsible individual with precise written communication skills and an enthusiasm for The Depravity Standard project. Research experience is welcome and preferred. Successful experience in the research application of AI also welcome.
We welcome students from all behavioral science backgrounds, with a minimum completion of a Bachelor’s in their chosen discipline preferred. International applications welcome.
